Dr. Peter van Tintelen is clinical geneticist and teamleader of the cardiogenetics sections of the Academic Medical Center and the Free University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He also chairs the National Working Group on cardiogenetic diseases. His research focuses on the identification of genes and mutations underlying inherited cardiomyopathies – in particular ARVC-, genotype-phenotype relationships and risk stratification. He co-founded the multicenter ARVC registry, which currently contains data of over 1000 patients and family-members, and the ARVC mutation database (www.arvcdatabase.info). In his work for the Durrer Cardiovascular Research Center, he is closely involved in the development of databases for other inherited cardiac diseases.
